Series Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses.

I know, I know you see it all over every social media platform and have probably read a million reviews and seen a million reels on this series but you know what? I can’t NOT write a review on these books.

I always wanted to gain the courage to dive into fantasy, I am a true romance junkie and love my smutty scenes and book boyfriends so A Court of Thorns and Roses series was recommended to me to start off with…

I know it’s not full on fantasy but you know what? I AM HOOKED.

My goodness I have never been so sucked into a series before that made real life just seemed so bland. Like I would literally run away to live in Prythian.

So of course I couldn’t resist a mini review on each book because this series really is going to stick with me for a long time. This will be fun because I wrote these right after reading each book and I know it will be fun to watch my thoughts change ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

Holy cow, running to read the second book!

I am HOOKED.

So much danger, intensity and ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Particularly Tamlin. Oh how I loved Tamlin.

Feyre was such a strong female character and I found myself gasping at times and rooting for her so so hard. There is nothing like finding a female mc that you just want to see her conquer the whole damn world.

I just loved everything about this, the land, the creatures just the whole world and I am so happy to dive into more of this series and a taste of the fantasy land.

I have seen so much about this and wasn’t sure if the hype would live up but I am only on book one and I have to say Sarah J Maas, you have me trapped in your writing spell!

๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

First of all, if I could give more than five stars I would. I so would because it deserves so much more than that.

This book has ruined me in the best way possible…I think this will be the biggest book hangover I have ever had even though I can read the next in the series I just know. I KNOW nothing will compare to this. Maybe ever.

I don’t think I will ever love two characters together more than Rhys and Feyre.

I just, I don’t even have words! This book had me in a choke hold.

I am so incredibly happy I finally decided to give in and pick this series up. I can already tell it’s one I am going to re read more than once and that just makes me so happy to have found true treasures.

But this particular book? A Court of Mist and Fury was absolutely intoxicating. I savored it as long as I could.

Lust.

Magic.

Danger.

Friendship.

I LOVED IT. Rhys is like my biggest book crush ever, more like book husband. Defiantly book husband and I honestly cannot wait for more.

Tamlin who!?????

Still caught in your trap of works Sarah J Maas and absolutely loving it.

๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

These characters, oh my goodness I am just so hooked on all of these characters. ALL OF THEM!

Talk about intense though! I think my heart leapt out of my chest in some parts of A Court of Wings and Ruin and my nails defiantly took the wrath of my nervousness.

I could not put it down once again and I just keep wanting more! More, more, more of everyone’s story because they are all finding a way into my heart, maybe not Nestaโ€ฆ.yet?

This world and this writing is really getting me excited to read more fantasy. I find myself thinking of Prythian more than once in my everyday life and that’s just what I love about good books. They suck you in and don’t let go and I am defiantly not ready to let go.

If you have not read this series yet, DO IT!!!!

๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

I thought this was such a nice refresh from all the intensity you were left with after reading A Court of Wings and Ruin. I loveeeeee me some Rhys and Feyre so I was happy to get more of just them being a couple, I am a total hopeless romantic at heart.

Rhys is just so ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Also I loved the other POV’s coming into focus, I think that was my favorite!

But I am ready to jump into Nesta’s story, bring it on!

๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

I can’t lie about being nervous going into A Court of Silver and Flames because Nesta… if you know, you know.

Talk about a character transformation and I was here for it. Nesta’s defensiveness is frustrating for sure and there were times I wanted to jump into this book and shake her and say “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?” but overall I finally understood her and understood why she was the way she was and I couldn’t help but do a fist bump once we finally clicked and I was rooting for her!

Let’s talk about something though…..the ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ in this book was unreal, I was not expecting it even though I knew the spice had to be good because It’s Cassian and you can just tell. I was here for it though and I loveddddd every spicy part!

Also, the bat boys have for sure nestled their way into my heart.

I was so satisfied with every aspect of A Court of Silver and Flames but again it just leaves me wanting more. I read this so slowly because I was truly not ready to say goodbye to these characters, they are so special and I really hope we get more because I just need another book!

Sarah J Maas, bravo!

Guest Post-Must-Have Baby Gear for First-Time Moms: A Comprehensive Guide

Welcoming a new baby is an exciting journey, especially if you’re a first-time mom. Navigating the world of baby gear can feel overwhelming with so many options available. This guide aims to simplify the process by highlighting the essential items that will make your parenting experience smoother.

From must-have clothing to crucial health and safety items, you’ll find everything you need to ensure your babyโ€™s comfort and well-being. By focusing on the essentials, you can better prepare for your little oneโ€™s arrival with confidence and peace of mind.

Baby Essentials

Getting ready for your new baby can feel like a whirlwind, but focusing on the essentials can simplify things.

When it comes to baby essentials, clothing and diapering are top priorities. You’ll want to stock up on onesies, which are versatile and perfect for layering. Sleepers are equally important to keep your baby cozy at night. Donโ€™t forget hats and mittens; they help regulate your baby’s temperature and prevent them from scratching themselves.

In the diapering department, you must decide between cloth and disposable diapers based on your lifestyle and preferences. Ensure a reliable diaper cream to prevent rashes and a convenient changing pad for those inevitable diaper changes. Having these essentials on hand will make your early parenting days much smoother.

Feeding Supplies

Feeding your baby is one of the most intimate and rewarding experiences, but it can also come with its own set of challenges. Whether you choose to breastfeed or bottle-feed, having the right supplies can make all the difference.

For breastfeeding moms, comfortable nursing bras are a game-changer. They provide the support you need and make feeding sessions more convenient. A good breast pump is another essentialโ€”itโ€™s invaluable whether you plan to return to work or just want to create a stash of milk for those moments when you’re unavailable. Reliable pumps can also help maintain your milk supply and prevent engorgement.

If you opt for bottle feeding, having a variety of bottles and nipples can help you find what works best for your baby. Some babies have preferences, so it might take a little experimenting. A bottle warmer is a handy tool to have around, ensuring that your babyโ€™s milk is just the right temperature, especially during those middle-of-the-night feedings.

When itโ€™s time to introduce solid foods, a sturdy high chair is essential. It provides a safe and comfortable spot for your baby to explore new tastes and textures. Baby-friendly utensils, such as soft-tipped spoons and small bowls, are designed to be gentle on your babyโ€™s gums and easy for little hands to manage. Making mealtime enjoyable and stress-free helps you and your baby build a positive relationship with food from the start.

Sleeping Gear

Ensuring your baby has safe and comfortable sleeping gear is crucial for their well-being and your peace of mind. A crib and mattress should be your first investment, as they provide your little one with a secure and cozy sleeping environment. Swaddle blankets are lifesavers when it comes to helping your baby feel snug and sleep longer, mimicking the comfort of the womb. Lastly, a reliable baby monitor allows you to move around the house while keeping an ear out for your baby’s needs, providing that extra layer of reassurance during those precious sleep hours.

Travel Essentials

Going out and about with your baby requires some key travel essentials to ensure safety and convenience for both of you. From car rides to leisurely strolls, having the right gear can make all the difference in your daily adventures.

The first thing to secure is an infant car seat. This is non-negotiable, as it ensures your baby’s safety during car rides. Look for a model thatโ€™s easy to install and meets the latest safety standards. Many car seats also have a base that stays in the car, making it simple to snap the seat in and out as neededโ€”perfect for those frequent errands and visits.

A lightweight stroller is a parentโ€™s best friend when getting around on foot. Itโ€™s less cumbersome than other models, making it easy to maneuver through crowded areas and transport in and out of the car. Despite its lighter frame, ensure it has sturdy construction and sufficient storage space for diaper bags and other necessities.

A baby wrap or sling is incredibly useful for hands-free mobility, especially in more confined or rugged environments. These carriers allow for close physical contact, which can be calming for your baby and convenient for you. Whether navigating a busy market or doing chores around the house, a wrap or sling lets you keep your baby close while freeing up your hands.

Health and Safety

Ensuring your babyโ€™s health and safety is paramount, as it lays the foundation for their overall development and happiness. By being prepared with the right essentials, you can effectively manage minor ailments and everyday hazards, providing a safe and nurturing environment.

Having the right tools and items on hand will make it easier to handle unexpected situations with confidence. Below are some crucial health and safety items every parent should consider:

  • Baby Thermometer
  • First-aid Kit
  • Baby-Proofing Items

Playtime and Development

Playtime is not just fun for your baby; itโ€™s a crucial part of their development. Toys play a key role in stimulating their senses and encouraging motor skills. Books are fantastic for fostering early language skills and instilling a love for reading from an early age. A soft, colorful play mat provides a safe space for tummy time and other activities, helping to strengthen your babyโ€™s muscles and coordination. By incorporating these elements, youโ€™re setting the stage for a well-rounded and happy little one.

Bathing and Grooming

Bath time can be a special bonding experience with your baby; having the right tools makes all the difference. A baby bathtub provides a secure and comfortable space for your little one to splash safely. It’s designed to support your baby and make the whole process easier.

A gentle baby wash is essential for keeping your baby’s delicate skin clean and irritation-free. After the bath, wrapping them in soft towels will ensure they stay warm and cozy, making the transition from water to the outside world a delightful experience for both of you.

Conclusion

Caring for a baby involves a lot of preparation and attention to detail, but remember, youโ€™re doing a great job! From travel essentials and health items to playtime and grooming tools, these are key components that help ensure your babyโ€™s comfort and safety. The effort you put in now will pay off in your babyโ€™s well-being.

If you ever feel overwhelmed or need extra support, countless resources and support groups are available to help you navigate this journey. Donโ€™t hesitate to reach outโ€”you’re not alone on this wonderful adventure of parenthood.

A Letter From One Kindergarten Mom to Another.

Well, here we are.

This day seemed so far away for such a long time didn’t it? I thought so too and sometimes I still can’t believe we are on the full on school journey now.

It seems like just yesterday that we were rocking, burping, pacing the living room floor just trying to get adjusted to having a new baby and now our baby is growing up.

We were listening to baby shark on repeat and holding chubby little fingers to steady them while learning to walk. Going through the emotional journey of potty training and their preschool journey learning how to be a friend, leading us all to here.

This moment.

Kindergarten.

I’d be lying if I said it didn’t keep me up at night thinking about it.

Just hoping and praying that it will be a great year and that he will thrive and be happy being in school and make lots of friends, be kind and have a wonderful teacher who is patient. That’s all you can ask for right? That’s what we have been teaching and preparing for.

Even sitting here typing I can’t help but cry and our first day is still a week away.

I guess I am writing this to let you know mama, you are not alone. Your fears are rational. It feels like you’re sending your baby out into the big scary world without being able to be there to protect them every minute of the day.

But I am choosing to embrace this new journey and make it the best I can for my little man. Making sure lunches are fun to open each day, volunteering for all I can, being involved in his school journey as much as I can. Attending every event or field trip he asks me to. I think that’s what helps your little one and you in this adjustment and school years to come.

So don’t be afraid to cry after hugs and drop off, don’t be afraid to think about your little one every second of their first week because it’s normal and it will happen.

Schedules might be a little more crazy, doubts might be a little more high, evenings a little more busy, but it’s nothing we can’t handle.

I wish you the best of luck on the new school year! I hope it’s successful and fun and that you both enjoy it.

We’ve got this mama’s!

When Friends Become Like Family. Camping Trip!

I feel like once I had my children and even more so that I have hit the age of 30, I realize more and more just how precious family and friendship really is.

Especially when those friends turn into becoming more like family. When your kids grow up together and you are best friends and they are little besties and it’s just a wonderful experience and I am so thankful for it.

It’s turned into a tradition to go on a mini Summer vacation each year towards the end of the Summer with friends and this year it was a Jellystone Park campground and it was a BLAST!

So many memories made.

They had everything you would need to keep kids occupied and it was all right there from pool, splash pad, waterpark, putt putt, fishing, parks, bike riding.

I loved the huge splashpad the most so the toddler’s could enjoy all the water fun too, itโ€™s always stressful making sure you find somewhere where your young ones can participate and have fun too.

The cabins were really spacious and nice, fit two families perfectly and most had a view of the water so it was fun for fishing which my son did for the first time and now he loves it.

We had a rain day but even that was fun because the kids played board games and we were able to go to lunch to get them out and out of the cabin for a couple of hours until it cleared up for some water fun.

Our experience was such a great one and we can’t wait to go back again!

Have you ever been to a Jellystone park? I know they have a lot of them so curious who has been.

As Summer is coming to an end, I really hope you have all enjoyed it. I love Summer so I am sad to see it go, but it was defiantly a fun one with the kiddo’s and my hubby this year!

What was your favorite thing you did this Summer?

Dandelion Days.

Some of my best memories of childhood are walking around picking dandelions as you go adventure outside just knowing itโ€™s going to be the best day.

Spending a whole day outside getting dirty, swimming and being with family are my fondest memories and itโ€™s what I strive for my childrenโ€™s childhood.

Especially now.

So when my 4-year-old son came up to me while we were playing in the backyard after I was home from a long day at work and handed me a handpicked dandelion just for me I was so happy.

And then when my 2-year-old daughter followed suit and soon I was blessed with a bouquet of dandelions my heart burst.

So of course we had to make a wish on some of our dandelions, pick them apart and keep a couple as well.

As the days are becoming warmer and Summer finally is almost upon us I strive for dirt filled finger and toenails, chasing butterflies, bug hunting, riding bikes for hours, a day full of swimming.

Thereโ€™s something so magical about a young learning mind. Creating fond memories for them that they will think back on when they are older just like me reminiscing on a dandelion.

So next time you see a dandelion, I hope you donโ€™t get annoyed about the weed in your perfectly green lawn and think of it instead of happier Summer days spent soaking in the warmth that the world has to offer.

Peel apart the petals, make a wish and a perfect time to make some memories with your littles because itโ€™s ones they will always remember.

Itโ€™s a gift.

How Did We Get Here So Fast!?

I swear, some days it feels like I just had my sweet babes. They sure were right when they said time flies when youโ€™re raising kids.

I wish it would slow down.

Iโ€™ll tell ya what though, we have been BUSY. Busy busy with life and learning the new stage of โ€œactivitiesโ€

My son and I just went to kindergarten round up. Cue the waterworks because I canโ€™t believe it, my mama heart is not ready! Even though I am so excited for him but secretly a little scared too.

T-ball sign ups are this week!! Letโ€™s hope for some grass stained baseball pants and lots of fun.

Also, my two year old daughter has such a loud personality and needs to be busy so letโ€™s throw in a fun dance class for her this Spring! I mean why not?

I just find myself all the time asking lately how did we get here already!?

What happened to the middle of the night bottle feeds and the sweet sweet smell of newborn baby.

I have loved every stage of motherhood no matter how hard it can be and I know I am still just at the beginning stages but I canโ€™t help but feel sad about how big my babies are getting already.

At the same time though, it is so exciting experiencing all these firsts.

Motherhood is such a whirlwind.

Watching them become their little selves and learning and growing is such a gift.

I am just embracing this season of life.

Trying to slow down as much as I can and give my all to my family.

Thatโ€™s what matters most to me.

So yay for early dinners because we have to get to practice and uniforms to wash.

Bring on this new season of parenting!

This mama is ready to take on the new title โ€œsports momโ€

3 Easy Game Day Appetizerโ€™s.

Fun fact, my husband is a total sports fanatic and to say he is excited for football season is an understatement.

So game day appetizers are a staple in our house on the weekends.

I thought it would be fun to share 3 of our favorite game day appetizers to kick off the official start of football season!

To The First Time Preschool Mama.

I’m struggling with the fact that I have a preschooler.

Where did the time go?

You were just a little rolly polly baby asleep in my arms yesterday, I swear.

Time is such a thief.

Even at a young age, you try to give your child all the tools they will need to succeed in any new adventure in life.

When the time comes to use the tools though, it’s both exciting and scary.

I feel like a tiny part of your innosence will be chipped away as we enter school age, even if it is preschool.

Yet, I want you to flourish and meet new friends and learn all you can at the same time.

Bring me home all the fun crafts you do each day to display, I hope I see a big smile at the end of each day and hear nothing but re-telling of fun things that happened while you were at school.

I know drop off’s will be hard and pick up’s will be exciting and it’s all apart of growing up for both you and me.

I swear, being a mom is the biggest emotional rollercoaster there is.

But just know mama’s, your baby will be fine.

I’m here to convince both you and myself.

Trust the teacher’s.

Trust that you raised a brave, smart and fun little one who will be nothing but great and kind.

And know it’s ok to cry, just hold it in until after drop off as to not scare them.

Know that they are ready, they have all the tool’s you’ve given them.

I know the hardest part will be getting yourself ready though.

I know how hard it is to let them grow, and even harder to let them go just a tiny bit.

Let’s get through the first week of preschool together mama’s!

We’ve got this and know as always, we are in this together.

Love,

A preschool mama.

Fall Tiered Tray Ideaโ€™s.

I love tiered trays.

In my opinion they are one of the greatest things to come out for decorating.

There are so many different things you can utilize them for and I just love it!

September is upon us and itโ€™s finally that time of year where I just get โ€œthe lookโ€ from my husband when I start to bring my seasonal decor out.

So I am showing you two Fall tiered trayโ€™s I have put together because at least I can tell him โ€œItโ€™s for the blog.โ€

I love using traditional Fall colors, all the oranges and burgundyโ€™s I think are so beautiful.

Tiered tray

My tiered tray is new this year and I am obsessed. I used to have a 3 tiered one but I love the look of this double!

Adding a bed of leaves to the bottom is such a nice filler especially when you have a lot of space to cover.

Most of my filler pieces are from Hobby Lobby, they usually have 40% off their holiday decor.

The back is not as full but like I said adding leaves really helps make it look that way!

I also made a small lazy Susan type tray for next to my coffee pot. I kept it a lot more simple but it still gives that cozy Fall feel.

The lazy Susan and small coffee blocks are from Target dollar spot last year.

Adding warm LED lights to any of these also gives such a soft glow and feel, I usually do that as well!

I hope these tiered trays gave you some inspiration for your own home this Fall!

Big Mac Sliderโ€™s.

Oh my goodness, I have found theeee best football season dish to make!

If I didnโ€™t love sliders already because Hawaiian rolls are life, I love them even more after making this recipe.

BIG MAC SLIDERโ€™S!

Yes, I said it. Big Mac sliders and they are absolutely delicious. I cannot wait to make this for all the big football games we watch as the Fall season is upon us.

Letโ€™s talk ingredients

Ingredients:

โ€ข 3/4 lb ground beef

โ€ข 1 medium yellow onion, chopped and divided

โ€ข 1 teaspoon salt

โ€ข 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

โ€ข 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

โ€ข 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

โ€ข 6 slices American or sharp cheddar cheese

โ€ข 1/2 cup iceberg lettuce , shredded

โ€ข 1/4 cup pickles , sliced

โ€ข 2 tablespoons butter, melted

โ€ข Hawaiian rolls

You could also add sesame seeds to the top to make it a true Big Mac type slider but this particular day I did not have any on hand.

The true star of this show though is the sauce. Definitely chefs kiss. It did not make it soggy at all either which was a relief.

Sauce:

โ€ข 1/4 cup mayonnaise

โ€ข 2 tablespoons relish

โ€ข 2 tablespoons yellow mustard

โ€ข 2 tablespoons ketchup

โ€ข 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

โ€ข 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Now letโ€™s assemble.

Instructions:

โ€ข Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF.

โ€ข In a large pan on medium-heat, add the ground beef, half of the diced onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook until the beef is no longer pink and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

โ€ข Cut the rolls in half lengthwise.

โ€ข In a bowl, combine the mayo, relish, mustard, ketchup, onion powder and garlic powder and mix. Spread half of the sauce on the bottom layer of the rolls.

โ€ข Top with the cooked beef, sliced cheese, lettuce, and pickles. Drizzle the remaining sauce on top and place the top half of bread rolls on the sliders.

โ€ข Brush the melted butter on top of the sliders.

โ€ข Bake the sliders for 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

โ€ข Cut the sliders into 12 individual slices.

Seriously I canโ€™t wait to make these again! They were delicious and will definitely be a party favorite.

Let me know if youโ€™ve tried these! And if you do try this recipe share with me how it turned out ๐Ÿ™‚
