Mama’s: Welcome to The Chaos of “Maycember.”

I don’t know about you, but I feel like I am scrambling more and more looking at my May calendar than I do in December! Talk about total May madness.

My oldest is in Kindergarten so this is my first full year with all the school activities so I never really understood the meaning behind Maycember until this year. He brought home his May calendar from school about a week ago and I never knew there could be so many days that have things going on! Brings back so many memories though especially seeing field day on the calendar. But all the end of the year parties, teacher appreciation week, performances, field trips, spirit type week days.

I defiantly feel the pressure of trying to keep everything straight. Especially when you throw in all the extra activities for both kids. Ball games, dance recital, birthday parties, Mother’s day, Memorial day weekend, trying to be in two places at once at times.

The feeling of an endless to-do list is real.

And we wonder why it’s so easy to get burnt out as a mom?

The part keeping me going though? It’s just a season.

It will pass and I will look back and I’m sure wish I could do it all over again because secretly the chaos is fun. I love being busy with my kids. I love supporting them and cheering them on and being there for as much as I can and showing the people who deserve it how much we appreciate them.

But that isn’t saying that all of it isn’t overwhelming because it is.

To help break up the chaos a little I’ve started writing everything down.

Prioritizing and making lists on what to get each week for the week coming up.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I fortunately have a wonderful support system and have family to help when my husband and I can’t be in two places at once.

Push things that aren’t pivotal that month to later in the next month to help loosen the up load of things to do.

And most importantly give yourself grace, remember you are doing the best you can and no matter what, you are doing a wonderful job!

I am here rooting you all! We’ve got this.

Bring on Maycember!

Kids donโ€™t need more โ€œstuffโ€. They need outdoors & adventure.

Thereโ€™s something about being cooped up all Winter and then a sunny Spring day comes along and you just think โ€œitโ€™s all alrightโ€

We had a Sunny Spring day here in Michigan last week and the kids and I took total advantage!

Growing up my parents always had trails in their backyard, back then they were pretty wooded and used a lot for four wheeling which we would do but now itโ€™s a lot more cleared so it works so well for walks and adventures in the sun.

My favorite part was listening to my kids get excited about finding deer tracks but then thinking โ€œis it a Bigfoot!?โ€ Or finding big sewer drains and thinking โ€œI wonder if ninja turtles are down thereโ€

I love imagination ๐Ÿฅบ I think itโ€™s just the best thing ever and I make sure I can bring it out as much as I can.

Days like this one just put in perspective how much you need outdoor time. Especially as a child, the best memories are made and it helps them reset so much. Get that pent up energy out. Unplug and plug back in!

Although if you live in Michigan or a state like it, Spring can still be chilly and very rainy but that shouldnโ€™t stop the fun and the excitement that the warmer weather is coming.

Hereโ€™s our 5 favorite activities in the Spring to get outside even if itโ€™s just for 30 minutes or so.

Bike riding

Hikes/trail walking

Bubbles/Chalk

Park Play Date

Scavenger hunts

Cheers to all the sunny days coming our way! โ˜€๏ธ Letโ€™s take full advantage of them and spend as much time outside as we can ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

7 Fun Spring Break Activities For You and The Kids.

Spring is upon us and with that comes Spring break!

Even though my son and daughter are still super young, I still think of Spring as the start of fun activities school aged or not.

We can finally get outside and play. Bring on the mud and grass stained clothes because I am so ready!

Today I thought I would share some great Spring break activities that you can do as a family, that still is a little more social distanced.

1. Break out the bubbles.

Just like bubble wrap, I feel like youโ€™re never too old for bubbles! Bubbles are such a great inexpensive activity. You can make big bubbles, get a bubble machine or make some fun in a bin with bubbles and water. Definitely a great outdoor activity for the kids.

2. Take a day trip.

I love making a day out of a fun activity. We recently went to an indoor water park and my son had a blast. Even a trip to your local library or just finding in town activities to do are great as well!

3. Have a family movie night.

You can never go wrong with a movie night. One of my favorite things to do. Make some popcorn, set up a snack bar or ice cream station. Make some homemade iceeโ€™s. So much fun can come from a movie night.

4. Paint a masterpiece.

Painting is such a great activity no matter what age! Get creative with it and thereโ€™s so many things you could come up with! Or grab your chalk and head outside to chalk paint.

5. Have an outside adventure.

Check out your favorite trail, rock hunt at the beach, ride bikes, go rollerblading. Head to the park. Outside adventures are what Iโ€™m most excited about as the days get longer and hopefully warmer.

6. Sensory bins.

There is so much you can do with sensory bins and they are a hit at any age as well! I have lots of water bin ideas in mind for my son this Spring.

7. Fly a kite.

Spring is so perfect for kite flying! It can still be windy so get to the park and run around with a kite!

Letโ€™s make this Spring a great one and enjoy it as much as we can! I know we all and definitely our kids need it!

Whatโ€™s your favorite thing about Spring? Mine would be everything blooming and the excitement that Summer is coming.

Have a wonderful week!
