How was your Summer!? Ours was amazing filled with lots of trips, swimming and family and friend time.
Anyone else feeling a bit rusty at the early mornings and lunch packing or is it just me??
I feel like in the Summer it’s easy to get up early but even though I am an adult and work full time, when the school season starts I still find it harder to get up just like when I was attending school ๐
It’s so bittersweet. Every new school year just reminds you of how much your little’s are growing.
My son started first grade yesterday and although my daughter is still at home, the fact that she is starting pre school next Fall is just unbelievable.
Weren’t they both just in diapers toddling around and keeping me up all hours of the night!? I remember starting this blog and all I had was my little man, just figuring out motherhood together. Now they have sassy little comebacks and Lego’s and Barbie’s galore strewn across the floors.
Ok, cue the tears!
With September, I am saying bye to long Summer slow days and mornings and starting to fill my calendar with sports practices and school field trips again.
My son is starting his first year of hockey and my little girly is on her 2nd year of dance starting up as well.
As much as I do love a non busy day, sometimes I strive in the chaos with figuring out the kids schedules and how they work into my work schedule.
Adulting is being excited for new calendars and pretty pens and markers to use!
My friend and I have been gushing about our excitement for organizing and keeping schedules in check.
Also, my TBR list is growing outrageously now that it is September. I am so so excited about so many of my upcoming reads, let me know if you would like a post on that! Plus, share the book you are most excited to read this Fall!
Ok, enough of the rambling. I am mainly trying to say that I hope you and all of your kiddo’s have the best and the safest new school year! Wishing you all of the luck and just know we will all navigate this together!
While men undoubtedly have communication challenges at work, there are common themes for women that often lead us to feel disempowered, ignored or struggling to fulfil our potential. Some worry about being โtoo passionateโ or overemotional, while others donโt feel confident to speak up in a male-dominated environment. What is often overlooked is that as women, we have incredible natural qualities when it comes to communication. One thingโs for sure ladies – you donโt need to act like a man to succeed at work. You have all the tools you need to fulfil your potential already. Here are three examplesโฆ
Rapport building
Women have an advantage when it comes to building rapport – making others feel important and feel heard. Itโs not just asking questions and showing interest, we also do this by keeping eye contact, often using a relaxed, softer gaze, and with nods and smiles. In general, we have far more capacity for inviting others to feel relaxed.
Top tip:
Asking questions is a great way to take back control of the conversation in a calm and grounded way. It maintains rapport, even encourages it, and yet puts you back in the driving seat. State your idea with conviction and then conclude your idea with invitations. โWhat do you think?โ โDo you think this could work?โ โWhatโs your take on it?โ Inviting others to contribute their own original thinking after you state your idea will empower others and ensure that they feel valued. Be sure to avoid disclaimers – more on that here.
Empathy
Empathy is perhaps one of the most effective communication resources at anyoneโs disposal. And women do tend to have a more natural capacity for empathy than men. Particularly when leading a team, empathy is invaluable. It means women are more inclined to perceive and tune into issues people are facing, so they can deal with problems before they get out of hand. Their empathy also creates a sense of safety within a team, so that colleagues are more empowered to take risks and express greater creativity. The value of this cannot be overstated. Read our blog on why honest and open communication is getting respect at work.
Top tip:
Be aware that we tend to prioritise being liked, and therefore in an attempt to empathise, we become reluctant to offer feedback that could be interpreted as harsh, or to give a direct order when one is needed. Most of the time, empathy will work in our favour, but there are times when we will need to express ourselves in other ways. To show authority and certainty, make sure you use downward inflection – this is when you let your voice go down at the end of your sentence. Itโs important to ensure the tone of your voice matches the situation you are in.
Reading cues
It’s been scientifically proven that women exhibit higher sensitivity to nonverbal cues. We are usually more attuned to how our behaviour affects others and this sensitivity allows us to respond more effectively to a situation. We have learnt to talk in ways that balance our own needs with those of others, to save face for one another.
Top tip:
Sometimes something needs to be said that causes conflict โ and sometimes that conflict is helpful and necessary. If you struggle with being assertive, read this blog for some top tips.
So there you have it, a few examples of our tremendous natural qualities and why itโs important to capitalise on these skills and learn how to amplify them in the workplace. You don’t need to dominate to have impact. Of course, there are men that will identify more with female characteristics and vice-versa, but all are important, and all need to be valued. When your communication starts becoming more powerful, youโll find that your team members benefit from their contribution, and other women will be encouraged to be more authentic and powerful too.

My daughter is approaching a year old. I was not ready. There wasn’t nine months to prepare. I had about two days. From the beginning motherhood was hard. I didn’t get to go to parenting classes or stock up on parenting books. I wasn’t yet a member of Facebook mom groups or subscriber of mommy vlogs. The doctors in the ER told me I was pregnant and then two days later popped out a baby.
Today, motherhood is hard but worth it.
Even after reading the parenting books, chatting on the mom groups, and watching endless mom vlogs I’ve learned nothing could have fully prepared me for motherhood. The lack of sleep is indescribable. Anxiety and postpartum self-care (or lack of) isn’t talked about enough. If the amount of crying doesn’t frustrate you the mommy burnout might. Not to mention that sometimes the societal representations of motherhood is less than ideal. Still, motherhood is hard but worth it.
I am evolving as a mother every day. Coffee fights off my tiredness. Postpartum therapy has helped me manage my anxiety and place importance on self-care. Crying still frustrates me but now I’ve become pretty good at distinguishing between my daughter’s cries. I’ve learned to lean on others and even cry myself to prevent mommy burnout. I’ve discovered through social media that there are plenty of moms like me who don’t hold back just how challenging motherhood can be. Yes, motherhood is hard but worth it.
Motherhood is my favorite occupation. I don’t care about the clichรฉs or trying to be perfect. Each day I do my best to be the best mother I can be for my daughter. She is my pride and joy. She has changed me for the better. As I watch her grow I know one thing is for sure: Motherhood is hard but worth it.
Mom With No Plan is a first time mommy who didnโt realize she was pregnant until two days before giving birth to her daughter. When sheโs not juggling her newfound journey of motherhood sheโs blogging about it. She enjoys a daily cup of coffee, occasional glass of wine, and spending time with her family.
Did you get an invitation for the marriage anniversary of your dearest friend? Then, you must present something special to that person. Isnโt it? If you are bored of the old fashion of presenting showpiece, jeweler, and all; then it is high time to switch on to something different. How the idea of quilts comprising patchwork patterns will be? Want to know the specialty? Here it is.
Few Words About Patchwork Patterns
Patchwork, as clear from the name, refers to a technique that includes sewing several small fabrics to create large geometric designs. It includesmixed patterns, textures, and colors that make up an exceptional piece. Traditionally, a wide number of needlework was required to developincomparable patchwork patterns for quilts. However, in todayโs time, such quilting patterns have become a highly popular technique in theclothing industry.
When coming up with an exclusively stitched quilt, the patchwork is the topmost layer, and the batting and backing form the middle as well as bottom layers, respectively. Either a machine or hand is used for stitching the outline. Finally, an exclusively designed quilt serves to be the product ready to be sold and used.
What Does The Pattern Of Patchwork Include?
Whenever it comes to patterns, you must be wondering about the specialty, isnโt it? Regarding the pattern of patchwork; it can be either of the two things:
โข Decorative design
โข Flat template
In the case of decorative design, the design repeats over a fabric multiple time. Conversely, the flat template refers to pattern pieces that are joined all together. At the time of calculating the fabric for patchwork patterns, the tailor traces the fabric as required and cuts pieces of cloth to come up with a final fabric.
Benefits of Using Patchwork Pattern Quilts
Quits comprising exclusively designed patchwork patterns comprise a wide range of benefits. Firstly, they provide a high rate of warmness that serves the dire need, especially during winter. With a wide range of sizes available, you will be able to make a choice that offers highly relaxed sleep. The frills and laces help enhance the luxury statement of such exclusively manufactured quilts.
Such exclusively stitched quilts are preferred in homes. Bing available for both single and double beds, you will be able to go with the most required choice. As the stitching takes place using fabrics comprising variable colors, they will undoubtedly enlighten the room. The unique pattern created reflects a blend of artistic and contemporary design.

Are you impressed by the specialty associated with a patchwork pattern? If yes, it is high time to browse through the variety of quilts comprising patchwork patterns with traditional touch. You may start by browsing the famous online shops for such exclusive quality quilts. Making the right choice will be no more difficult with a plethora of choices available.
One of the greatest facilities associated with shopping from e-shops is that you will come across a detailed description of items. This will help in easy comparison followed by shortlisting of the items that fit your choice and budget. Thank you so much to Alyssa at My Aussie Hub for guest posting! Check out her blog or follow her on Twitter as well for more of her writing!
The other night my husband and I went out to dinner for the first time since weโve had our newborn baby girl.
I was so excited about it. Like butterflies in my stomach excited. I navigated doing my hair and makeup between taking care of our newborn and our toddler and even the tantrums and the cries couldnโt put a damper on my mood.
I was going on a date with my husband, I was getting out of the house, I was wearing actual jeans, a crisp glass of wine was calling my name.
It was a wonderful night. A fall in love all over again type of night we desperately needed since becoming parents once again.
Life just gets so busy and thatโs when I realized, we need to prioritize our marriage.
Between our children, working, his hockey coaching, sometimes โusโ as an actual couple gets put on the back burner.
Who else can relate?
Iโve been constantly thinking of all the ways to prioritize our marriage and below is what Iโve come up with.
Set time aside for each other each day.
This goes in with the busyness I was talking about. Donโt put too much pressure on it but just make sure each day you have a little time for each other, even if itโs cooking dinner together or watching a show or just simply asking each other how their day went.
Respect each other.
Respect the wants and needs you feel for each other. Respect in general is just an important thing to have in any type of relationship but especially marriage. We all have different wants, needs, wishes and taking the time to listen, respect and prioritize them in your relationship is a wonderful thing.
Communication is key.
Does it even need an explanation? Communication is just #1. I canโt imagine my marriage without my husband wanting to share his thoughts with me. I canโt imagine him not wanting to talk things out with me. Itโs just the #1 thing any relationship needs.
Date nights when able to.
Date nights out are so fun and definitely important. Like in the beginning, we just had our first date night since having our baby girl. Dinner was fantastic but after putting the kids to bed we sat in the living room with some wine and listened to our favorite songs we havenโt heard in forever and talked and laughed for hours.
So date nights out are great but donโt put pressure on it, you can have just as much one on one time at home as well!
Try to be interested in what each other likes.
I thought maybe this could relate to others as well. My husband and I have tons of the same interests but we also have tons of different ones as well. For instance, my love for writing and reading. Yet, he cheers me on and tells me to keep going with my blogging journey or will ask about the books Iโm reading. He coaches travel hockey and itโs one of his biggest passions, so I go to as many games as I can and events and I love when he gives me play by plays of the games.
It helps us stay connected even when we are each doing separate things. Plus itโs always nice when someone wants to talk about something you enjoy!
With two kids now, I am definitely still figuring out this prioritizing thing! Itโs a work in progress but I already know how important it is to keep a healthy marriage.
I hope these tips helped you! If you have more tips, please let us all know below. Thanks for reading!
If youโre a busy working mom like me, you know what itโs like to juggle a hectic personal and professional schedule with a never-ending list of things to do. One of the few benefits of the global COVID-19 pandemic is that it has caused many people to pause and reevaluate who and what truly mattered in their lives. I used the time during lockdown to launch my dream coaching business My Life Couch and more importantly – to learn how to take care of myself, respect my own time and ask for help.
I compare us working mothers โ and parents in general – to a very sophisticated smart phone: Running a ton of applications at once, a life saver for many and a constant companion that always deliver value. But what is the use of a phone if the battery is low or not charged? It becomes a very expensive paperweight, right? Or whatever use you have for a phone that isnโt charged at all. We need to be intentional about carving some time to nurture and care for ourselves more, not just when the battery has died out completely, so we can be the best mom/dad/sibling/friend we can be.
Here are my 5 strategies to recharge your batteries to be always on and full of energy:
โข Take some time off
Knowing yourself, what makes soothes, heals, recharge you is key to defining your self-care exactly HOW and WHAT you want it to be. Whether is being surrounded by people or staying alone to do some self -discovery, meditation, reading a book , journaling, running a bath, do whatever nourishes your soul
โข Learn the power of NO
If like me your natural tendency is to say yes to keep people happy, you will quickly feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of commitment you are taking on, without the bandwidth to match. By being selective on the responsibilities we undertake, we can truly focus on the tasks at hand and being present – think quality vs quantity โ and deliver outstanding results every time, minus the extra stress.
โข Ask for- and accept help โ
Asking and accepting for help doesnโt always come easy for working mothers, myself included. I used to see it as a reflection of my inability to โbe itโ and deemed myself a failure. But you realize that by asking, you are opening your doors, your mind to the kindness of people who in some case may just be waiting for you to ask. Asking for help is another way to extend your reach and getting things done. And you have to be willing to accept the help, even if itโs not exactly how you are doing it, aka donโt focus on the HOW itโs done โ of course safety is primordial โ but WHAT is done. At best, you and your family are exposed to a different way of doing things! And you can always repay the favor when someone else needs help .
โข Move
Get your body going by incorporating movement into your routine. It could be a walk, running or even dancing to your favorite tune or playlist. Exercise is proven to release tension and stress and itโs good for your mental health overall so itโs a win- win. Find your movement and practice. I also count singing on top of your voice on a song you like โ karaoke nights anyone – as exercise, although your family, neighbor etc… might disagree.
โข Have your tribe
Have in your circle, someone other than your spouse that understands the pressure you may face. It could be another mom, a close relative, or a friend. The point is to be having a safe place to show up as you, to share your joys, doubts or vent your frustrations. Itโs a place to been heard, understood, and connect with another person on common topics and interests and get another perspective on things. Bonus point if you combine making a phone call with that friend whilst going for a walk!
Itโs sometime feels we donโt have time to even recharge, but letโs not leave until our batteries are completely out to put a plan in place shall we. By carving a non-negotiable time often to do things for ourselves, we are filling ourselves so we can pour out love, support , focus , guidance or whatever we can , instead of constantly running on an empty tank. I would love to hear about what works for you and if you need some motivation to create a recharge plan , Iโll be happy– to be part of your tribe !

Does time get away from anyone else or is it just me?!
I just thought I would share a little life update since Iโve been so MIA!
We lucked out tonight, and softball was canceled due to weather. Michigan got snow last night, and if our bodies havenโt reacted enough to spring, we get to go through it again!
I am starting a new job with a huge corporation this week! I have been a dispensing optician for the past (almost) 9 years, and I truly have loved every moment of it!
The first office I started at was awesome! The doctor and his wife were some of my favorite people. What is that saying though? People donโt quit a job, they quit the management? Yeah, thatโs what I did. The manager was not the nicest person. In fact the 7.5 years I was there, we had 25 employees come and go. Some lasted a year some not even a day… it was so sad because I had truly gained so much from that office.
The last office I worked at was amazing all around. Such good people! One of the docs though… Iโll just stop there. ๐ I just knew that it wasnโt going to be a good fit for me in the long run, so Iโm taking a turn with a corporation from HOME! No more going to an office!
There is SO much to learn though. I am on the computer 100% of my day. Not really a bad thing, but there is no face to face interaction. Although during a global pandemic, Iโm not mad about it.
SPORTS! My daughters are in sports! I had mentioned softball earlier, that is what my oldest daughter is playing. My youngest is playing soccer! I know nothing about softball, however I played soccer as a kid and really enjoyed it, SOOO I volunteered to coach! Iโm not sure what I was thinking when I did that!
We have had some health problems here too! No COVID, at least thatโs what the tests say, but Iโm not sure what to believe or not to believe anymore. My girls are still having issues that may or may not be related to whatever โvirusโ they did have, BUT they are overall healthy and were just praying the heal quickly!
Oh, and I dyed my hair pink! I love having fun with my hair, and this just seemed right!
That is my life update! Lots going on daily, but that is pretty much the just of it!
We want to thank you all for your support! This week actually marks one year of blogging for us! We enjoy every post we do, and every connection we make with each and every one of you! Keep reading, stay healthy and stay safe. โค๏ธ

Iโm going to start this post with a bit of an understatement: the last year has been a tough one. Next week will see us meet the one year mark of when our lives all changed dramatically, and what a year it has been. Despite many of us spending more time at home, very few of us have been prioritising taking care of ourselves despite this playing a huge role in our general wellbeing. With parents having to take on the new role of a full-time teacher, key workers under extreme pressure and people struggling to gain a work/life balance now their homes have become officesโฆwhere is the time? Sometimes just making it through the day is a success story in itself but these additional stresses that have fallen into our lives only further prove the point that self-care is vital to a healthy mind.
There is still very much a culture where taking time to look after yourself can be seen as an unnecessary luxury but that couldnโt be further from the truth. In order to be the best version of yourself in work, life or relationships you need to feel like the best version of yourself.
Often when you see the term โSelf Careโ you think of face masks and massages but actually, the practices are endless and, since weโre not going to be able to get to a spa any time soon, itโs important to find other ways to bring you that same level of peace. Often, the kindest things you can do for yourself have nothing to do with pamper sessions (although I wouldnโt say no!) and everything to do with removing negativity from your life where you can. Iโve listed some of my favourites below.
My Favourite Self Care Methods
Take 30 minutes a day to do something you love โ Read that book, listen to a podcast in the bath, be creativeโฆit doesnโt matter what it is, just make sure itโs something that makes you happy.
Social Media detox โ Take a day away from your Social Media apps, the constant stream of news and other peoples polished lives is a lot and you often donโt realise the damage itโs doing until you take a break.
Review who you follow โ Make sure the people you follow on social media are accounts and/or individuals that bring you joy or valuable information. Anyone else can and should be removed (or muted at the very least).
Move your body โ Iโm a huge advocate for exercise for your mind rather than your body but this doesnโt always have to be an intense workout. I love basic Yoga videos on YouTube, stretching with some relaxing music is really calming even if for 10 minutes.
Get some fresh air every day โ This one is so important, especially for those that are working from home every day at the moment. Sometimes getting yourself outdoors if you donโt โneed toโ is harder than you think, but itโs a wonderful way of taking a moment to breathe.
Journal โ Keeping emotions or stresses bottled up inside can only last so long. Talking to other people about these things is so important but if you donโt feel ready or able, writing in a journal is an excellent way to let some of those stresses or worries free.
And the most important and compulsory form of self-care is to be kind to yourself. Life isnโt easy even at the best of times and itโs made ten times harder if you let that negative voice in your head make its way to the front. Weโre all just doing our best so make sure you are acknowledging your achievements no matter how small. Iโve said it before but sometimes just making it through the day is a win, so take a minute to say you smashed it!
Benefits of Self Care
Increased positive thinking
A reduction in anxiety
Finding outlets to relieve stress throughout the day can result in an improved sleep pattern
Taking time for yourself will give renewed focus, increasing productivity levels
Improved relationships
Learning how to recognise your real emotions/feelings.
Sometimes it feels easier said than done but you need to prioritise yourself. No matter the job, situation or environment you find yourself in, you canโt pour from an empty cup so eventually, something is going to have to give. Please donโt let it be your health.
Thank you so much Amanda and Marissa for having me on your blog and thanks to everybody for reading. If you would like to check out more of my posts you can find my blog here and Instagram here.
After becoming a mom, I love finding any useful hack that I can to make days just a little bit easier.
The days can be long with our kiddo’s but I am forever grateful for the genius mamas out there who have come up with some amazing mom hacks (Motherhood Sprouting)! I swear I spend lots of Pinterest time just scrolling through hacks and trying them out.
I will also tell you, my mind is blown by most of them.
So today I thought I would share with you the best mom hacks I have found and you will most likely be like me and think, HOW HAVE I NOT DONE THESE SOONER!?
Let’s check them out!
Bathe Your Baby In A Laundry Basket.
I know, I know sounds so weird! But I am telling you guys, I have huge anxiety about my wild 11 month old slipping in the tub and hitting his head so I have been trying to find the best way to give baths without an injury and when I saw this hack a lightbulb instantly went off in my mind.
THIS IS GENIOUS! And I can’t wait to try it because not only will it help with my slipping fear but his toys will stay right by him as well so he won’t try to venture out to get them.
Another one of my fears as my son is getting taller and more curious is locking himself in a room! Right now he is so into climbing on doors and swinging them back and forth so once he starts walking around and can reach door knobs I am so using this hack to hopefully prevent any breaking down doors in the house.
I just tried this on old sweet potato and carrot stains on my sons clothes and WOW! I am telling you genius, and so easy! No other stain remover that I tried to use fully got those orangey stains out so I am so happy I found this!
Mix a little and equal parts of hydrogen peroxide, dawn dish soap and baking soda together. Let it sit for a little bit and throw it in the washer! Magic, I am telling you ๐
Attach Cupcake Holders To Your Popsicle Sticks.
It’s Summer and popsicles are all the rage with the kids. The sticky mess though afterwards? Not so fun, especially when you are out in public so how awesome is this hack? I can’t tell you how many unused cupcake holders I have sitting around so this is on my to-try list when giving my son his first popsicle.
Put Water In A Pacifier And Freeze For Teething Relief.
Oh teething! THE WORST! My son started teething very early, as soon as he turned 4 months. He just turned 11 months and now has 8 teeth! So I can tell you, this is an awesome hack! Something to defiantly try on your teething baby.
